Abstract
Epidural stimulation of the lumbar cord using a single bipolar electrode in complete spinal cord injured subjects can evoke different patterns of activity in the paralyzed lower limb muscles: single twitches, sustained extension and alternating flexion/extension movements. The nature of the stimulus-evoked muscle responses is described by analyzing the components of the EMG pattern.
