Abstract
A voxel-based measure of discrete compactness for brain structures quantification, is presented. The work proposed here simplifies the measure of discrete compactness, which corresponds to the sum of the contact surface areas of the face-connected voxels of the analyzed brain. A relation between the area of the surface enclosing the cerebral volume and the contact surface area is presented. Finally, in order to prove our voxel-based measure of compactness, we calculate the measures of discrete compactness of global gray and white matter and the ventricles of a brain.
