Abstract
In this paper a new control technique for active rectifiers is proposed. The traditional voltage-based control is replaced by a novel capacitor-energy-based control. A new modulation technique (PMM) is developed. Two different implementations are presented: the former uses two current sensors and one voltage sensor, the latter only a dc-bus voltage sensor. The proposed method has been successfully tested by means of simulations and experiments demonstrating, in both configurations, its ability to guarantee output voltage regulation, unity power factor and low harmonic content.
