Abstract :
Based on the acoustic stimulus generated by a transient evoked otoacoustic emissions (TEOAE) equipment, it´s possible to obtain in a simultaneous way the subject´s TEOAE and the auditory brainstem response (ABR). Through statistical study for 20 normal hearing subjects, the relationship between the clinical ABR and the ABR obtained in this simultaneous test was established. Using latency of the wave V as a parameter, it was found that 84 dBSpLPe ABR obtained at the same time with the TEOAE, match approximately with the 70 dBnHL clinical ABR. Eventhough instrument complexity and testing time increases, additional information about cochlear microphonic and ABR time synchrony is obtained. Information that may be useful for auditory neuropathy problems detection. Additional hardware and software for this aim is also described.
