Abstract
In this paper, we investigate the communication over time-varying frequency selective channels that exhibit large delay spread and Doppler spread. The receiver consists of a decision-feedback equalizer (DFE) and a Kalman filter for channel estimation. Brief derivations for the algorithms are given. Simulation results show that there exists an irreducible error floor depending on the Doppler spread; the receiver can obtain a bit error rate (BER) of 10/sup -2/ for channel with spreading factor up to 0.2.
