Abstract :
We have proposed IP2 (IP-based IMT network platform) as the architecture for the next generation mobile network for advanced mobility management. This paper identifies the basic IP packet routing procedures cooperated with mobility management architecture. This procedure can solve some issues of mobile IP technique from mobile carrier´s perspective. For example, it can route a packet on an optimum route without packet overhead. Also this can provide location confidentiality of mobile terminal and can hide network control node´s address from mobile terminal and 3rd party. This article then studies the routing cache management scheme that is needed for address translation from IP host address (IPha) to IP routing address (IPra) and vice versa in the access router since this translation can cause a bottleneck. Next, we estimate the number of cache table entries using computer simulation, and the feasibility of implementing the mechanism in existing routers has been verified. Also, we describe hierarchical mobility management architecture based on IP2 architecture concept in order to reduce control delay and increase scalability of this architecture, thereby decreasing both packet loss and signaling redundancy within the network.
