Abstract :
In electric and hybrid electric vehicles, availability of the electrical system/subsystem is important in terms of customer satisfaction. This paper discusses the system/subsystem availability issues in electric vehicles where both auxiliary and the propulsion loads are actuated/controlled through a multiplexed wiring harness system. The paper compares the system availability with a regular non-multiplexed system. A metric is introduced, and the system availability is described in terms of this metric.
