Abstract :
Wideband CDMA (WCDMA), as one of the 3G standards, promises to deliver multimedia and versatile data communications. These communications require higher bandwidth and are usually more sensitive to the transmission errors. Ensure the transmission quality requires incorporation of various emerging technologies. Smart antennas, as one of the key technologies, can significantly improve the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) and hence reduce the transmission errors. This work demonstrates that applying multistage interference cancellation smart antennas (MICSA) to WCDMA uplink conducts superior interference suppression than using conventional single stage smart antennas.
