Abstract :
In this paper, an adaptive subcarrier and power allocation algorithm is proposed for delivering fine granularity scalable (FGS) video stream over an OFDMA system. The proposed method targets, does not only minimize the overall transmission errors, but also provide the similar visual quality in the mean-square error sense to all users at a power constraint. The transmission optimization based on rate distortion theory is developed to achieve such a goal, which is implemented in two steps. First, assignment of layers to subcarriers is performed to achieve the maximum power efficiency, and secondly, optimal power distribution across all subcarriers is performed. The simulated results show that, compared to the uniform subcarrier and power allocation scheme, the proposed algorithm can achieve significant performance improvement in terms of both the overall transmission efficiency and the impartially quality division to each user.
