Abstract
Very high resolution spatial images have recently become available with the duty of new commercial satellite sensors like Ikonos (www.spaceimaging.com) or Quickbird (www.digitalglobe.com). This allows us to focus on new applications that were unreachable with former more conventional sensors. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the possibilities given by this new kind of remote sensing to map trees or orchards in a heterogeneous tropical landscape, where target detection is a real challenge.
