Abstract
This article describes the first steps done into the direction of an four dimensional assimilation scheme (4DDA) for the retrieval of snow pack properties from passive microwave remote sensing. The scheme assimilates passive microwave remote sensing observation into a physical based snow model. Simulated annealing is used to minimize the cost function.
