Abstract :
We present a novel astigmatic beam shaping technique to fabricate, by femtosecond laser pulses, waveguides with circular transverse profile and arbitrary size. We obtain single-mode active waveguides at 1.5 /spl mu/m with gain of 1.5 dB.
