Abstract :
The paper presents the analysis of the magnetic field strength and magnetic field attenuation factor inside, and close to, a structure in case of a direct lightning strike. The attenuation of analyzed systems was determined in respect to magnetic field of an excited, long, vertical conductor representing a lightning channel and passing through the point of lightning strike in an object. Computation method, based on a frequency domain full-wave approach, was used for a comparison of the attenuation factor calculated at the single specific frequency with results obtained from a time domain analysis of the magnetic field.
