Abstract
In this paper, a hybrid photovoltaic (PV)/fuel cell (FC) system is designed and simulated. The system is applicable for remote areas, isolated loads or space applications. Both PV and FC are delivering DC power with different characteristics. Instead of using two stages of converters to satisfying the maximum power point (MPP) and DC-bus voltage at the output, the techniques that will be studied in this paper is to introduce a single converter responsible for extracting the MPP form the solar array and deliver a DC-bus voltage at the output. The system simulation is done through the application of PI and fuzzy logic controller (FLC). The FLC is more powerful to follow the MPP. The simulation results show that the system can run efficiently and satisfy the target power for the load requirements.
