Abstract :
This paper presents the main challenges for implementation of a successful PV program for rural electrification. It is generally accepted that an institutional model for successful implementation is local specific. Which model is most suitable for a place depends on institutional, legal, socio-economic and cultural conditions. Furthermore, a project can be successful only if every part of the institutional model is functioning properly. As a consequence, it may take several projects to find a successful approach for a implementation of a larger-scale implementation of photovoltaics program.
