Abstract
The use of optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) techniques for contention resolution in optical burst switching (OBS) is proposed. Further a service differentiation scheme is proposed for QoS support. This novel approach achieves wider range of differentiated services than the existing offset-time-based scheme, by assigning prioritized codewords which are embedded in the signature sequence used for OCDMA. Steady-state throughput is obtained and the numerical results show that the proposed scheme provides higher throughput corresponding to the priority class assigned to the burst.
