Abstract
This paper present a systematic analysis of the characteristics of cavity solitons, studying in particular the influence of the Fourier filter and the initial seed on the soliton shape. A wide seeding beam, for instance, gives rise to localized doughnut beams, which are not higher order transverse modes of the optical cavity, since they can still be individually addressed.
