Abstract
In this paper, we present a novel constant rate (CR) type-II hybrid ARQ protocol with low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes. The decoder architecture always operates at the highest code rate, thus efficiently exploiting the decoder hardware. Incremental redundancy is generated from interleaved versions of the original data using the same encoder/decoder hardware. This way, the encoder/decoder circuit complexity can be lowered. The proposed principle is therefore especially suitable for mobile applications. The performance analysis has shown that a significant increase of the data throughput at low signal to noise ratios is obtained.
