Abstract :
At present, there are many fieldbus standards. In this paper, we consider the requirements of fieldbuses and propose a set of evaluation indices to support users´s judgment. We show the evaluation results of the static indices for several fieldbuses. We also propose a measurement technique for the dynamic indices of a fieldbus. A case study for FF (foundation fieldbus) showed that the efficiency of message, response time, and efficiency of fieldbus were correctly evaluated.
