Abstract :
High quality CD, DAT audio requires a large amount of data. Currently, multi-channel preference has been rapidly propagated of the users. The MPEG (moving picture expert group) provides data compression technology of sound and image system. The MPEG standard provides multi-channel and 5.1 sound, using the same audio algorithm as MPEG-I, thus MPEG-2 audio is forward and backward compatible. The MDCT(modified discrete cosine transform) is a linear orthogonal lapped transform based on the idea of TDAC (time domain aliasing cancellation). In this paper, we proposed the most efficient algorithm that optimized MDCT/IMDCT (inverse MDCT) of the core in audio field. It reduced operating coefficient by overlapped area to bind. To compare the original algorithm with the optimized algorithm that cosine coefficient is reduced by 0.5%, multiply operating 0.098% and add operating 0.58%. The algorithm test used C language then we designed hardware architecture of the microprogrammed method and it is applied to the optimized algorithm. This processor operates at 20 MHz on 5 V.
