Abstract :
In wireless communication systems, the line-of-sight direction of arrival (DOA) from mobile to base station and an angular speed (AS) of local scatterers in the vicinity of the mobile source as seen from the base station are two important parameters to utilize spatial dimension of channels efficiently. In this paper, we present a method using polarimetric complex MUSIC (PC-MUSIC) for a joint estimation of DOAs and ASs in a local scattering model. PC-MUSIC outperforms complex MUSIC (C-MUSIC) in the sense that it is capable of detecting closely spaced sources. By a means of dual polarization incorporated in antenna array, diversity of source signals makes it possible to find direction in high resolutions. To illustrate such advantage, simultaneous DOA and AS estimation by PC-MUSIC and by C-MUSIC is compared in the case that the DOAs of incoming rays are arriving closely.
