Abstract
This paper describes a simple, robust, quenchable oscillator operating in the 2.4 GHz ISM band, intended for operation in a spread-spectrum super-regenerative receiver. The design is based on a low-cost broadband monolithic amplifier with a printed hairpin resonator in the feedback loop. Unlike other topologies which rely on accurate modeling of devices and parasitic effects, the proposed design has proven to be very robust and repeatable. The design procedure is easily extensible to other frequencies and to conventional oscillators. The design allows easy frequency trimming in production.
