Abstract :
Design criteria for tunable matching networks (TMN) are given with emphasis on the MEMS technology in the FM band. An important result is obtained proving that minimal number of components is needed to match a range of loads in the full band. Exact design equations are given rather than approximations based on the Smith Chart. Parasitic effects are also incorporated. Future fully MEMS-based transceivers with automatic antenna tuning units are presented.
