Abstract
The fast adaptive integral method (FAIM) for solving large arrays has been developed and applied to finite arrays of arbitrary array elements, including dielectrics and layered material. The latter two features fit neatly into the FAIM method since they require only additional Green´s function terms and projections for magnetic currents. A block diagonal preconditioner has been tested and found to greatly reduce solution time by reducing the number of iterations required by the BiCGStab solver.
