Abstract
The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is a widely used technique in simulating time domain electromagnetic field problems. However it is well known that this method is not very efficient in dealing with low frequency EM problems. Some considerations on using implicit FDTD techniques are presented in this paper. It is shown that the CN FDTD is more suitable for low frequency problems even though it has a larger dispersion error than that of the conventional FDTD, and the ADI-FDTD methods. The numerical results confirm the analytical analysis.
