Abstract
A genetic algorithm (GA) based approach useful for predicting the far-field radiation of an antenna from synthetic near-field data is analyzed. Two different GA, using real and binary encoding were used and the most significant differences and limitations of each one are outlined. The drawbacks of the real-valued GA when handling with medium size antennas along with theoretical far-field results are also included.
