Abstract :
A resonator antenna made from a woodpile electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) material and a metallic ground plane is proposed. The resonator is fed using a double slot antenna in the ground plane of the device. The antenna has the advantages of high gain and low sidelobes. To confirm the complete bandgap of the woodpile EBG material, a band diagram is computed. Preliminary theoretical results on radiation patterns and impedance bandwidth are described.
