Abstract :
Reverberation chambers are used for high accuracy antenna measurements. We study mechanical stirring. One convenient method to study the performance of a stirrer is to perform computer simulations. Such simulations are difficult to perform as well as interpret for the three-dimensional case. Therefore, we have in the present work considered a two-dimensional (2D) model of the RC as an initial step. In this model the RC is modelled by using spectral domain techniques as implemented in G1DMULT, and periodic boundary conditions. In order to determine the currents on the mechanical stirrer the method of moments (MoM) is used. The size of the 2D cavity is chosen so that the mode density is the same as in a real 3D cavity with the dimensions 0.8 m by 1 m by 1.6 m and the Q-value is also set to correspond to such a RC.
