Abstract :
A novel constant-frequency voltage-scanned reflecto-directive system is presented. In this system, the operating frequency can be kept constant and the desired reflected angle is determined by the reverse bias voltage of an electronically-scanned leaky-wave antenna (LWA). The incoming signal is received from an arbitrary angle at the fixed frequency of 3.1 GHz and resent toward any desired angle at the same frequency. The system is experimentally demonstrated by bistatic RCS measurements at 3.1 GHz. The proposed system is composed of a low noise amplifier (LNA), a band-pass filter (BPF) and only two antennas (Rx/Tx). A patch antenna is used for Rx because its omni-directivity allows detection of the incoming signal from any arbitrary angle at a fixed frequency. It is simpler and provides more functionality (arbitrary angle) than conventional retro-directive systems. In addition, the full system can be easily integrated on a single substrate for implementation in cheap wireless packages.
