  • Abstract
This paper investigates the abilities of two different empirical techniques to generate initial U-slot antenna designs, which can be rapidly optimized for wideband impedance characteristics, using commercially available simulator IE3D. Results of optimization of probe location, slot with (t) via the built-in optimizers (Genetic and Powell) on IE3D, clearly identify the empirical method, which generates U-slot antenna geometries more suitable for rapid CAD based optimization.
