Abstract :
A wideband and back radiation suppressed slot array antenna is proposed in this paper. The excellent design flexibility of "both-sided MIC technology" is successfully employed in this array antenna. The shielding conductor to suppress the backward radiation for slot antennas generally deteriorates the wideband performance. In this newly developed slot array antenna, the "both-sided MIC technology" overcomes the difficulty of achieving wideband performance suppressing the backward radiation. The electromagnetic simulation shows a relative bandwidth of wider than 6 % for less than -15dB of return loss. Much more wideband performance can be achieved, when a little deterioration of return loss at the design frequency is allowed.
