Abstract
A common technique to improve the impedance bandwidth of a microstrip antenna is the use of electromagnetically coupled stacked patches. A novel topology of an ultra-wideband, dual, stacked, U-slot patch antenna is proposed. The antenna is simulated using the commercially available CAD tool, IE3D. The results of the performance simulation of the antenna are included. The proposed antenna topology exhibits a 2:1 VSWR bandwidth of 65% and a peak gain of 9.4 dBi.
