Abstract :
We have reviewed the role of numerical noise (round off error) in different parts of computations. It is seen that product error is insignificant. Subtraction error can play a significant role when a system is ill conditioned or involves subtracting large numbers to obtain small numbers. However, phase error due to round off can dominate for ultra-large scale problems involving hundreds of wavelengths.
