Abstract :
In this paper, the design of a fully spatial signal processing system for a one dimensional smart antenna operating over a wide frequency band is described. This array antenna uses Non-Uniform Components (NUC) and is capable of filtering the received signal in the angular domain as well as the frequency domain. Due to the frequency-angle dependence of radiation pattern and gain of antenna elements, the method to compensate such an effect is described in the paper. The computer simulation results show that the NUC wideband smart antenna together with the frequency-angle dependence compensation technique gives capability of generating an approximately constant radiation pattern/response throughout the desired wide frequency band.
