Abstract
In this paper, a type of reduced-order observers for matrix second-order linear systems is proposed in the matrix second-order framework, which uses both state information and the corresponding state derivative information. The proposed approach is especially suitable for large-scale systems. A spring-mass-dashpot system is utilized to illustrate the design procedure and show the effect of the proposed approach.
