Abstract
A new compensation approach for linear multivariable systems is presented. This approach is motivated by the Schur decomposition theorem. By restricting the two compensation matrices to be the real unitary matrix and the rational complex matrix, respectively, the closed-loop system can be a stable normal matrix, which enjoys the optimal H∞ norm. The effectiveness of this novel approach is verified by an example in papermaking processes.
