Abstract :
Frequency planning is one of the more expensive aspects of deploying a network. If a set of base stations (BS´s) can be deployed with minimal service and planning, the cost of both deploying and maintaining the network will decrease. This work presents a decentralized algorithm for BS´s to determine their frequency assignments by listening to key information from other BS´s. The synchronization information is sent via a low-power spread-spectrum signal.
