Abstract :
To handle the rapidly changing circumstances of users and networks, network services must: 1) provide suitable services for each customer to meet the many different demands of customers and 2) follow the change in users\´ demands and provide suitable services at that time. We previously proposed "service composition technology" to meet these requirements. This technology can create new services by composing various "service elements" (SEs) (e.g., devices, sensors, resources, and functions connected with networks in ubiquitous computing environments) according to a "service template", which represents service logic in an abstract manner. Selecting SEs just before executing composite services makes it possible to meet each user\´s demands at that time and place. We introduce two efforts to achieve such a framework: invoking SEs and measuring the amount of time from a user request to service execution. First, we propose two alternatives for invoking SEs and discuss their comparison. Next, it is shown that the capability for service composition and execution is already sufficient for providing services.
