Abstract
The paper reports on photonic technologies for future information networks along with recently developed optical systems for access and core networks. Also described are fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and high-speed systems that use WDM and optical amplifiers, which will form the infrastructure of the next generation of networks for high quality broadband services.
