Abstract :
The transmission quality in transparent optical networks, without OEO (optic-electronic-optic) regeneration of the signal, is limited by accumulated linear as well as nonlinear impairments in the transmission fiber. In order to consider the quality of the signal within a transmission circuit for the routing, a simple evaluation criterion is necessary for the description of the physical impairments. Since the accumulation of the linear effects is to be described relatively simply, this work concentrates on the investigation of the accumulation of the nonlinear effects within a transmission system. With the help of numerical simulation we investigated transmission systems with different span infrastructure.
