Abstract
We report development, spectroscopic and laser investigation of a novel mid-infrared Cr:ZnS/sub 0.42/Se/sub 0.58/ active medium, exhibiting similar to Cr:ZnS and Cr:ZnSe spectroscopic properties except for the broader emission, making it promising for tuning and mode-locking purposes.
