Abstract :
Using a powerful model of Er/sup 3+//Yb/sup 3+/ fiber amplifiers, we show that parasitic lasing can severely limit their efficiency. Comparing modeling and experimental results we demonstrate that reflections and temperature effects should be taken into account.
