Abstract :
A square-shaped flattop mode was experimentally demonstrated in a broad-area circular-aperture VCSEL using an external-cavity aspheric mirror. The mirror was fabricated by electron-beam lithography on a curved substrate. Excellent single-mode operation was observed.
