Abstract :
The gain characteristics in Er/sup 3+/ and Er/sup 3+//Ce/sup 3+/ codoped tellurite fibres using 976 nm pump have been investigated. Gain at 1.53 /spl mu/m increased from 16 dB to 31 dB in a 12 cm long fibre.
