Abstract :
This paper presents an analytical and experimental evaluation of sliding mode observer for eliminating position and speed sensor in permanent magnet synchronous machine. The SMO approach is designed, in simulation and in experiments, to provide accurate rotor position estimation under allowable operation range of motor. At the same time, the adaptive velocity estimate method guarantees precise velocity feedback information used in speed control. The simulation results of SMO are presented. Experimental results confirm the good operation performance of the dual-closed loop speed control of PMSM.
