Abstract :
High power-high frequency resonant mode electronic ballast for metal halide lamp has been explored in this paper. The main contributions are as the followings: (1) A new circuit configuration has been presented by employing the LLC resonant inverter to run MH lamp, and LCC inverters have good performances, such as ZVS switches, high efficiency, low EMI and so on; (2) Through analyzing its output characteristic, LCC inverter can be proved to be suitable as a topology of electronic ballast for MH lamp, because its output property just matches the characteristic of MH lamp; (3) Scanning -frequency-controlling approach has been proposed to control the output power and dim the light; (4) The experiment results show that 400 W-MH lamps from a few of different manufactures (GE, Osram and Jk) are stable in the frequency range(80 kHz/spl sim/250 kHz).
