  • Abstract
    The design of LCC resonant inverter for MH lamps ballast has been investigated in this paper. The main contributions are as the followings: (1) Employing LCC resonant inverter, the output properties of which just match the electric property of MH lamps, has put a new topology of high power-MH lamps ballast forward; (2) To understand the behaviors of the new type ballast, LCC resonant inverter with MH lamps load has been analyzed; (3) The design procedure for LCC inverter has been given out; (4) The simulation results and experimental results have verified that the new ballast has good performances, such as ZVS switch, low EMI, high efficiency (95.6%), minimum circulating current and so on. The experimental results also show that MH lamps, running at high frequency, has good behaviors, such as the voltage and current of the lamps has almost the same wave shapes, power factor (PF=0.978) and the arc in the lamp tube is stable.
