Abstract :
The paper presents a study of improving the dynamic performance of a synchronous generator based wind power generation system, where a power electronic interface system is used for the variable speed wind turbine. Operation and control of the generation system are discussed. A method of improving the system dynamic performance, the use of a thyristor controlled resistor bank braking system, is studied. Simulations have been carried out to investigate the system performance and results are presented.
