Abstract
In this paper, a new arc-suppression system based on the resonant grounding principle is introduced. This system consists mainly of power electronic device (PED), intelligent control device (ICD), and the novel transformer-type arc-suppression coil (ASC) with, the high short circuit impedance, whose compensating current could be adjusted with good linearity by semiconductor controlled rectifiers (SCR). According to the experiment data, we can get an excellent VA curve to figure the relation between the firing angles of the SCR and the compensating current of the ASC. Therefore, the system could determine fault and suppress arc between line and ground instantly when single-phase earth fault happens. It´s proved effective by experimental tests.
