Abstract
In this work, high gain nonlinear observers are used as residual generators to study the fault detection problem in a differential algebraic framework. We analyze the stability of the residual generator when a fault occurs. We consider two faults types: constant and constant sign time-varying. It is shown that under some soft conditions over the aforementioned faults the residual is different from zero.
